Social Conservatives Will Run Third Party Candidate If GOP Nominates Abortion Supporter

Social and economic conservatives feel betrayed by Republican Party

By Hilary White

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, October 2, 2007 ( - "If the Republican Party nominates a pro-abortion candidate we will consider running a third-party candidate." So said a group of prominent U.S. social conservatives alarmed at the possibility that the Republicans will nominate the pro-gay "marriage" and pro-abortion Rudolph Giuliani for President.

The New York Times reports the statement came from a break-away group at a meeting Saturday of the Council for National Policy in Salt Lake City. The statement comes as Giuliani is making a strong showing in the polls as the Republican candidate choice.

Giuliani has long held the "personally opposed but" position on abortion adopted by many Catholic political candidates supportive of abortion. This position, known as the "Cuomo dodge," was first formulated by the notorious abortion supporter and congressman-priest, Fr. Robert Drinan, and popularised in 1984 by then-New York Governor Mario Cuomo. The position has been denounced as a "deal with the devil" by faithful Catholics.

Giuliani told a group of Republican voters in South Carolina in April, "Ultimately I believe it's an individual right and a woman should make that choice." He previously stated that although he "personally opposed" abortion, "you have to leave that to a disagreement of conscience, and you have to respect the choice that somebody makes."

The conservative group at the Salt Lake City meeting included Dr. James Dobson of Focus on the Family and Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council. The group told media they had not yet identified a candidate but that most of the participants of the smaller meeting supported the resolution.

Conservative activist Richard Viguerie, one of the meeting's participants said the issue is "beyond abortion", though that is the most visible issue. "There's a general feeling among social conservatives, as well as economic conservatives, that they have been betrayed by the Republican Party," Viguerie said.

Conservatives have warned that a Giuliani nomination could split the Republican party, in which social conservatives represent a major voting bloc, thus guaranteeing a win for the Democrat candidate. Most Republican conservatives believe that infamous abortion militant Hillary Clinton will take the Democrat nomination.

Flashback: Virtue Signaling Francis Trads did to Frank Walker what RINO "Conservatives" are doing, now, to Trump

For Virtue Signaling Banning the Mass Francis Trads is Frank Walker the New Trump?   March 25, 2020 British conservative Daniel Hannan said: "Virtue signaling is competitive. When all your friends are anti-Trump, you have to go further." After President Donald Trump took office the liberal virtue signaling was very competitive with them, calling him every name in the book with death threats as well as 12,000 Tweets for his assassination and the famous Kathy Griffin's beheading Trump photo. After Canon 212 publisher Frank Walker made a headline which he later admitted he made a mistake on it appears that banning the Mass Francis traditionalists decided to join in the liberal-like behavior in a frenzy of virtue signaling against him. The Francis trads like the liberals are very competitive in their virtue signaling. Remember, when all your friends are anti-Walker, you have to go farther. The banning the Mass Francis traditionalists have issued num

"Catholics for Trump" Taylor Marshall has sure Gone Dark on the Subject... Wondering... Whole concept of Bogus Elections (as per Francis) is just a Bridge Too Far

For a guy who headed up a group called "Catholics for Trump," Taylor Marshall has sure gone dark on the subject in recent days.  His "What If Trump Loses?" show features his claim of not giving up, but all he has really said all week is to focus on our own spiritual lives. Nothing wrong with prayer and penance, to be sure! But I can't help wondering whether the whole concept of bogus elections (as per Francis) is just a bridge too far. Important Note : The publisher of the Catholic Monitor has made a pledge to say the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary everyday for a Rosary Lepanto-like victory for President Trump. He asks all CM readers to make this pledge. " THE HOLY ROSARY, MOST POWERFUL WEAPON AGAINST THE ENEMY OF GOD AND MAN... Saint Pius V ordered the faithful to recite the Rosary to impetrate victory from God in the epic battle of the Christian Armada against the Turk in the waters of Lepanto: still today, at noon each day, the bells rin

“They lie to us, we know they're lying, they know we know they're lying, but they keep lying to us.” - attributed to Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Robert Barnes Retweeted Cerno @Cernovich “They lie to us, we know they're lying, they know we know they're lying, but they keep lying to us.” - attributed to Alexander Solzhenitsyn, and while the sourcing isn’t confirmed, it’s certainly more accurate today than ever in the USSR. []
