The database, obtained by The Australian, contains the party position, birthdate, national ID number, and ethnicity of nearly two million party members and their corresponding location.

Of the 79,000 branches the Chinese government identified its apparatchiks in, many included Western companies, universities, and foreign government agencies...

...  According to Sharri Markson, the journalist who published the database, the Chinese Communist Party members working on behalf of Western companies “if called on, are answerable directly to the Communist Party and President Xi himself.”
